House of Representatives Candidate for Maranoa, QLD
Sherrilyn Church was born on a large sheep station in the Maranoa. Her family was quite nomadic for a few years but Sherri returned to the farming life. She currently owns a small citrus farm, with a few chickens and ducks in Crow’s Nest, inland, north east of Brisbane,
During her school years she lived in Mosman, Sydney and graduated from Cremorne Girls High School. She loved debating which was a subject within a subject and in her time, she also achieved the highest marks for the Baptist Scripture Examinations for six years. Sherrilyn loved Church History and enjoyed reading biographies and auto-biographies.
So from an early age Sherrilyn Church wanted to make a difference in third world countries. She studied Nursing for a couple of years and then entered Theology College, achieving a Diploma in Theology l Studies, which helped her greatly as a medical missionary in more recent times.
For many years Sherri worked in Graphic Design and sold Apple Macintosh Computers. She also trained people in high end desktop publishing programs for over 30 years as a Part-time TAFE teacher in Sydney and Byron Bay. Sherrilyn also ran a small business called Keyed Up Graphics where she trained people in publishing.
She went on her first overseas mission journey in 2008 and has had six other compassionate adventures to Zambia, Uganda and Kenya. Recently establishing a healing clinic in Southern India.
Recently, the mission she founded in 2008 has been registered as a Public Benefit Organisation with the Australian Taxation Office Charity and Not-for-Profit Commission and also with the Kenyan Government.
She has always had a strong sense of justice and have been used as an advocate for people in her communities who had no voice.
Sherrilyn comes to Maranoa with a deep desire to bring hope and commonsense and real solutions to the farming peoples of the mighty Maranoa. With God’s help!
