Christine Kay is the eldest of 4 siblings who were born into a working class family living in Ringwood Victoria from the late 1940s to the 1980s. Her father was a returned serviceman who worked as a storeman for the Dept. of Agriculture, and her mother worked very hard in her own small business, employing an Italian tailor who worked for her part time. Christine’s mother’s main client was the local menswear store who contracted her for their clothes repair work.
Christine was educated at Norwood High School, Nth Ringwood and studied administrative subjects, learning secretarial skills. She also had an interest in Linguistics, studying Italian and French. As a teenager Christine became interested in playing a musical instrument and learnt to play a flute for a hobby.
Christine has worked in an administrative capacity for The Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board in Melbourne and The Australian Red Cross also in Melbourne, doing general typing, clerical and receptionist duties. Christine has also tried her hand at pottery and worked at the Johnson Pottery Factory in Croydon, making earthenware items. For extra income when married, Christine took on private domestic cleaning as a fill in job. Having a heart for the Community, she worked in a voluntary capacity with The Australian Red Cross in Geelong and Werribee. Her work was in the capacity of a community carer, visiting nursing home residents. She also creates quilted blankets for new mum’s baby cots in the special care unit of the Werribee Mercy Hospital.
Christine is married to John Kay, a retired Ship Builder. They have no children but are involved with their extended families, and are enjoying life in the Wyndham Vale area. John and Christine were married in Prahran and lived in St Kilda for a number of years. They regularly frequent the Macnamara electorate to service clients and visit friends and family.
“I made the decision to be a candidate in MacNamara for The Rise Up Australia Party (RUAP) because of the commitment, sacrifices, loyalty, and objectives of our RUAP leader and team; they are exemplary and the party has the Judaeo Christian values which are very imporant for the future of our nation”, Christine says.
